THE Richardson family are having an extra special Christmas in their new home, following the arrival of a new addition.

Benedict Richardson is one of the first babies to be born at The Oaks, Mulberry Homes Yorkshire’s development in Sowerby, near Thirsk.

He has joined mum Maria, dad Michael and big sister Anna in one of our four-bedroom ‘Whorlton’ homes.

Michael, Maria and Anna, aged six, were among the first people to move into The Oaks, having bought their home via the Help to Buy scheme, which is designed to make mortgages more readily available to home buyers.

This will be their second Christmas in their home but it has been made even more special by the arrival of seven-week-old Benedict.

Maria said: “Because we were one of the first to move in, we were effectively living on a building site for the first few months, but everything around us is now finished and is so nice.

“There’s lots of other young families near us and it’s starting to feel like a real community.

“We bought the house with children in mind and it’s great that Anna and Benedict both have their own rooms and we still have one spare.

“It’s going to be a great place for them to grow up. I can walk with Benedict and Anna to Thirsk town centre within 15 minutes; Michael is a keen cycler and is only minutes away from some great cycling routes and we have the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales on our doorstep.

“We couldn’t be happier.”
